"Sacramental Life serves to promote our Anglican Identity through liturgical worship and the celebration of the Sacraments"

    THE SACRAMENTAL LIFE

The Sacramental Life of the parish is centered on the Liturgy and the Sacraments.

The sacraments are efficacious signs, perceptible to the senses, of grace.  According to the Church's theology, they have been instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, and through them divine life is bestowed on us.  They are means by which Christ gives the particular grace indicated by the sign aspect of the sacrament in question, helping the individual to advance in holiness, and contributing to the Church's growth in charity and in giving witness.

Anglicans celebrate seven sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Holy Orders, Matrimony, Penance and Anointing of the Sick.  A sacrament  is a sacred sign instituted by Christ to give grace and share in God’s own life and, according to the teaching of the Catholic Faith, these sacraments are “a certain resemblance between the stages of natural life and the stages of spiritual life.”

Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist are referred to as the “sacraments of Christian initiation” and they form the very foundation of every Christian life. The faithful are born anew by Baptism, strengthened by the sacrament of Confirmation, and receive in the Eucharist the food of eternal life.

The Sacraments of Healing are Penance and Anointing of the Sick.  These sacraments offer healing from both physical and spiritual illness and suffering.

The Sacraments of Holy Orders and Matrimony are directed towards the salvation of others. For whether we are called to the priesthood or called to married life, the focus is the same: we serve to build up the People of God.
