Outreach Ministries

"For thou hast been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat; for the blast of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall, like heat in a dry place." (Isaiah 25:4)

St. Uriel’s is involved with outreach on the local, national and international level.  On the local level, the parish provides a food pantry and funds for families in emergency situations.  We also provide assistance for families at Thanksgiving and Christmas.  The church grounds are used for many local.  During Hurricane Sandy, we been used as a housing site for recovery teams.

A regular ministry of the parish is to support our troops in the Middle East.  Every 6 weeks, care packages are sent out to members of our armed forces.

On the nation and international level, St. Uriel's supports Food for the Poor.  Food for the Poor ministers to spiritually renew impoverished people throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.  Established in 1982 as a 501(c)(3)corporation, their goal is to improve the health, economic, social and spiritual conditions of the men, women and children they serve.  Food for the Poor raises funds and provides direct relief assistance to the poor, usually by purchasing specifically requested materials and distributing them through the churches and charity organizations already operating in areas of need. In this way, the organization serves the poor with dignity and ensures the most appropriate use of donors' funds.

During times of extreme nationally and internationally emergencies, the parish has been very supportive both in financial aid and material aid to people throughout the world.  List below is just a small sample of the many outreach projects to which the parish has been involved.
