For Priests Discerning a Call to Saint Uriel's

Saint Uriel's offers many advantages as a place to live and work in the exercise of the priestly vocation.  Situated on the north Jersey Shore in an attractive residential oceanfront community, the church and rectory are three blocks from a beautiful beach and boardwalk. New York City and Philadelphia are within easy reach, as are closer destinations within the state, including Trenton, Newark, and Princeton. The local schools are excellent. The region offers numerous employment opportunities for spouses and family members. Sea Girt is a great location for young families as well as for those in other circumstances or stages of life.

Transportation

Located just off the Garden State Parkway and Interstate-195, Sea Girt is served by the North Jersey Coast commuter rail line, with stops at the adjacent towns of Manasquan and Spring Lake, and connections to Newark and Manhattan. The Amtrak station at Metropark is a 40-minute drive away, with inexpensive overnight parking and rail access to destinations on the Northeast Corridor from Washington D.C. to Boston. Newark's Liberty International Airport is less than an hour's drive away, with flights to destinations all over the United States and overseas.

Church Buildings

Saint Uriel's physical plant includes a beautiful church, parish hall, industrial-grade kitchen, preschool wing, Sunday School classrooms, nursery, library, and an administrative wing with spacious and comfortable offices for Rector and staff. The buildings and grounds have been well taken care of over the years, with few deferred-maintenance issues. The church's buildings provide an ample and flexible platform for a variety of activities, including worship, fellowship, Christian education, and outreach ministries.

The church itself is blessed not only with inspiring devotional artworks, but also with a well-maintained twenty-rank Austin pipe organ, built in 1964. It also features a state-of-the art system for video-recording and live-streaming worship, installed in 2020, and air-conditioning. The parish hall is equipped with a video projection system, sound system, and large screen for Christian education programs and meeting presentations.

Newly-Renovated Rectory

St. Uriel’s Rectory is on a lot adjacent to the church buildings - close enough to walk to work in under a minute, but separate enough to afford necessary privacy. It is a 3 bedroom, 2 and 1/2 bath home with eat-in kitchen, formal dining and living rooms, a “Florida” room and a finished basement with built-in office and laundry room. Attached is a two car garage and paved patio. The roof, windows, siding and HVAC system were updated within the last five years.

In 2021, a major renovation was undertaken in the interior. The kitchen was totally redone with granite countertops, new cabinets and appliances and a new hardwood floor. The powder room received a new floor, toilet and vanity. Upstairs,  the master bath was enlarged to accommodate a larger shower/tub with new tile floor, toilet and vanity. The hall bath received a new toilet and vanity. All the hardwood floors have been refinished. Blinds and curtains were added where appropriate. Currently, the entire house is furnished to sleep five but could easily accommodate six.
