February 20-22, 2009

Our Lenten Retreat was held at the retreat house of the Community of St. John the Baptist Convent. The theme of the retreat was, "What Does Christian Community Look Like".  The theme was based on Romans 12 and 14; Isaiah [the prophet's understanding of God and the vine], Matthew 18, and the parable from Luke, "The Laborers in the Vineyard".  Silence plays a vital part in our retreats.  The Sisters have told us that we are one of the few parishes left that still does the traditional Anglo-Catholic silent retreats. Silence plays a vital role in any retreat.  We are given to the time to listen to God.  Many who go on retreat for the first time are nervous about the silence and if they are even able to keep it.  When the retreat is over, it is the silence they miss the most.
