First four pictures: About every 6 weeks we send supplies to the troops in the Middle East. This has been a parish wide effort since I troops went into Iraq.
The pictures of the Youth Group is another outreach ministry of St. Uriel's. This one is to the inner city children in Brooklyn. We work with Bill Wilson and Metro-Ministries. ***** For thou hast been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat; for the blast of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall, like heat in a dry place. (Isaiah 25:4) Over the years, the community of St. Uriel’s the Archangel has been involved with outreach on the local, national and international level. On the local level, the parish provides a food pantry and funds for families in emergency situations. We also provide assistance for families at Thanksgiving and Christmas. The church grounds are used for many local civic activities such as Alcoholics Anonymous. During the winter months, the JV basketball from Sea Girt Elementary School practices in the parish gym.
A regular ministry of the parish is to support our troops in the Middle East. About every 6 weeks, care packages are sent out to members of our armed forces. On the nation and international level, St. Uriel's supports Food for the Poor. Food for the Poor ministers to spiritually renew impoverished people throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Established in 1982 as a 501(c)(3)corporation, their goal is to improve the health, economic, social and spiritual conditions of the men, women and children they serve. Food For The Poor raises funds and provides direct relief assistance to the poor, usually by purchasing specifically requested materials and distributing them through the churches and charity organizations already operating in areas of need. In this way, the organization serves the poor with dignity and ensures the most appropriate use of donors' funds.
Their ministry reflects God's unconditional love, which surrenders all, inspires trust and faith, and embraces all people regardless of race, status or creed. They believe that Christ is alive, and that we can best serve Him by being of assistance to those in greatest need (Matthew 25:31-46)
Food for the Poor seeks to link the church of the First World with the church of the Third World in a manner that aids both the materially and spiritually poor. They empower the poor in spirit through their direct ministry of teaching, encouragement and prayer.
As emergencies arise both nationally and internationally, the parish has been very supportive both in financial aid and material aid to people throughout the world.
List below is just a small sample of the many outreach projects to which the parish has been involved.
